I watched Jaws (1975) over the weekend and one line stuck out for me:
“Get the story on the state wire. Try to get AP and UPI to pick it up in New York or Boston to put it on the national. Call Dave Axelrod in New York and tell him this is from me, and he owes me one.”
Could that be Senior Advisor to the President David Axelrod?

As many people know, David was a journalist for many years prior to working as a political advisor. Unfortunately, no. David Axelrod would have been 20 in 1975, and was a student at the University of Chicago majoring in Political Science (no surprise there). His first internship in journalism was for the Chicago Tribune (i.e. not in New York) and he was hired to work there 2 years later, in 1977. As fun as it is to imagine, Jaws is older than most people remember and Mr. Axelrod was a Chicago journalist. Now here’s a picture of a shark:
